2025 Trends

Trends are generally a revisitation and interpretation of something that came before, perhaps applied in a novel way, and is now finding new favor in the design world.  Highlighted are selections we fully embrace.

OUR LIST

1 - Warm Wood Tones

The use of darker tones in wood applications goes hand in hand with the warmer color palette that is currently popular in interiors.  These darker pieces living with existing lighter ones create depth and a collected look.  Just keep in mind undertones, the grain and finish when mixing your woods.

2 - Resurgence of Cool Metals

Mixing metals, and the use of brass has been in the limelight for a decade now.  It's time to add cool metals as another option - nickel and silver are classics, while chrome and steel feel more contemporary.  Regardless, they all bring a fresh look.  Mixing metals, like mixing patterns, color or wood tones can create a more complex design aesthetic, but keep your selections to a maximum of 3 metals.

3 - Tiles and Mosaics

Large stone slabs will always be super lux and timeless in any application.  When this high end look is not possible, in lieu of the medium format tiles (ie the 24"x12") which dates a room, opt for mosaics or small format tiles but used in a fresh way, mixing colors and shapes, or creating bespoke designs results in both an enduring but also a designer product.

4 - Color

Color has made a huge comeback.  Use it in a unique way such as color washing a room, or in an unexpected place to highlight an architectural feature.  Color can also be strategically introduced into a neutral or monochromatic space through accessories, an antique rug or an art piece.

5 - Focus on the Details

Details make the space, so pay attention to them.  They are the secret ingredient.

6 - Mix It Up

Mixing eras, materials, colors, textures, and types of lighting results in a bespoke aesthetic.  This may not be a trend, but is the antidote when rooms feel flat and uninteresting.  Learn how and when to mix and not to match.  It's a science.

7 - Specialty Spaces

The wellness movement, and a surge in pursuing passions have taken center stage in our lives.  Some ways to accommodate these pursuits is to forgo the media room or carve out a niche in a corner of a room.  Going all in and being fully committed however, requires a renovation or new build.

8 - Enclosed Rooms

Open concept living will always be popular, especially with families, but the advantages of having smaller rooms that can be closed off is gaining in popularity.  These allocated functional areas offers privacy, an opportunity to create a moody vibe, and more walls and hence surface area for art, etc. are the natural byproducts of this more classic architural style.

9 - Walls and Ceilings

Ceilings are often overlooked but this 5th wall is having a moment and being highlighted in really unique ways.  Likewise, the continuing trend for dressed walls that feel artistic and layered are achieved through the use of murals, wallpaper, moulding and paneling.

10 - Bespoke Design

We feel joy in our environment when they contain the people we love, and are dotted by objects that are beautiful and meaningful.  This type of space is not achieved through the ubiquitous look from the design assembly line.  Live unapologetically with what you love, and do it with style and panache.
